What is Google Page Rank?
Page Rank is a system developed by Google to measure how much authority has a url, or a web page. With authority, we refer to the relevance and popularity it is a website for search engine positioning. We could say that the more important a page is, the easier it will be to position itself in the top results of Google.
How do you determine this authority?
There are many factors to assess when measuring the authority of a web site: web traffic, content, loading speed, etc, however, what most have in mind Google is the quantity and quality of links incoming and outgoing of a web page.
This authority is transferred when a website inserts a link that points to another web page, always and when the two pages are on the same topic. For example, if a web of cosmetic products pointing to another site on pet food, Google will not give any value or you can even reach penalizing. Therefore, we recommend that you do not waste time looking for pages with themes very different to yours or with very little authority.
How to know the Page Rank of my site?
Although Google stopped posting updates Page Rank in 2013, we found a number of different tools that allow us to know the authority of a website. In this case, we introduce you the tool, Moz, specifically one of its features that is free: MozBar.
MozBar gives us information of two metrics which are used only in this tool: PA Authority (Page), or DA (Domain Authority).
- PA: we indicated using a scale of 1 to 100 the authority of a specific page.
- DA: in this case allows us to know the authority of a global domain, that is to say, of all the pages that make up a website.
To add it to our navigation bar:
- Click to "Add to Chrome" and "Add extension".
- We checked in to the tool MozBar and searching in Google "cosmetic products" to continue with the previous example.
- We will appear to Google results with your PA (Authority) and DA (Domain Authority) and incorporated as we see below:
